Massachusetts Coastal Railroad, which operates freight rail lines from Framingham to Hyannis, will take over Bay Colony Railroad’s track and operation, announced a company press release. 

Bay Colony Railroad ran a shortline railroad from North Westport to northern New Bedford through Dartmouth, just north of Route 195. Bay Colony Railroad served three companies and operated in town since 1982. It ran its last train in December 2023.
