Caroling and storytime at the Russells Mills schoolhouse

Dec 18, 2023

A merry gathering of carolers and musicians came together the evening of  Dec. 17 at the Russells Mills schoolhouse to perform holiday music from across the globe, representing Ukraine, Germany, Israel and more. The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society hosted the event.

The Fall River Fipple Fluters performed several holiday classics such as Carol of the Bells, Oh Chanukah, Silent Night, and Oh Christmas Tree. The band, founded in 1990, performs traditional songs spanning several centuries and some music that dates as far back as the 1300s.

Later, the audience joined in on some carols led by local musicians Jim Bean and Steve Sullwold who performed classics like Joy to the World, Deck the Halls, and Jingle Bells. Later, Bean gave a public reading of the holiday children’s story “The Night Before Christmas.”
