Following the completion of the final two kiosks at Lincoln Park and Paskamansett Park, the Dartmouth Heritage Trail is complete, according to a press release from the Dartmouth Pathways Committee. 

Both of the final kiosks were built and installed by carpentry students at Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School.

The Dartmouth Pathways Commitee oversaw the completion of the Heritage Trail, which began in 2014 as part of Dartmouth’s 350th Anniversary celebration. Only eight of the original ten kiosks were completed, so the committee sought to finish the trail for recreation and to serve as a part of the South Coast Bikeway. The trail is 32 miles long. 

Kiosks can be found in Bliss Corner behind Southworth Library, next to the Padanaram fire station, at Apponagansett Park, Round Hill Beach’s entrance, Dartmouth High School’s entrance, Russell
Mills’ fish ladder, near the First Church of Hixville and in Smith Mills near Faunce Corner. 

Funding for this project was provided by the Dartmouth Rotary Club for the Paskamansett kiosk and Servedwell Hospitality for the Lincoln Park kiosk, as well as Dartmouth’s Community Preservation Committee. 

The actual content on the kiosk storyboards was created by Joseph Ingoldsby. 

Wayfinding road signs still need to be installed, which will help guide riders from village to village. A special Heritage Trail sign has been created to mark the trail and the logo was created by Assoc. Prof. Michele Bowers from UMass Dartmouth. 

The Pathways Committee will schedule an inaugural bike ride in the Spring.
