Dartmouth overwhelmingly votes Biden, Trump in presidential primaries

Mar 5, 2024

In the first election of a busy year, Dartmouth voters expectedly selected incumbent President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in their respective parties, according to the unofficial election results posted by Town Clerk.

Just 26% of Dartmouth’s registered voters submitted a ballot in the election.

While former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley took a decent chunk out of Trump’s local ballot count, he still secured the win with about 71% of the Dartmouth Republican votes. Nearly all of the remaining 29% of voters chose Haley.

Meanwhile, about 80% of local Democrats selected Joe Biden, with the remaining 20% split mostly between Minnesota U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips and “no preference.”

Lastly, of Dartmouth’s 67 Libertarian voters that turned out for Tuesday’s primary election, “no preference” was the most common ballot selection, along with write-in candidates.
