Donut Factory owner expects success in Dartmouth

The Donut Factory owner Jackie Webb believes she will have a “successful tenancy” in Dartmouth.

The new location at 246 State Road will be an “express location,” without a full kitchen like at the shop’s Fairhaven location.

“It won’t have as many products because there won’t be a full kitchen,” Webb said. “We will have our donuts, our coffee, we’ll have our linguica roll. All of our staple items.”

The Dartmouth location will be takeout only with no seating and no drive-through.

Webb was looking to expand the business this year to open a storefront closer to her home in Westport. She signed a lease for a Westport location, just to find septic issues which prevented them from opening.

“We are looking to grow, not too fast because I never want to exceed my limitations, but I’m looking forward to it,” Webb said.

The Donut Factory has been open for six years at one point having two locations open. However, the strain of the pandemic only allowed for one shop to remain open.

Still determined to open a new location, Webb started looking in Dartmouth. She found the location on State Road and is hoping to open in early October.

As for the traffic concerns in that area of State Road, Webb does not see it being a problem.

“I’m not necessarily worried about it as for business or consumer safety,” said Webb. “I think that as long as we have safe drivers, and you are cautious as you turn [it is fine].”

She did add that the high traffic count in that area will lead to a successful store in Dartmouth.

She has applied for permits for the location but there is no additional information on their status.

Part of her anticipated success in Dartmouth will come without a Dunkin’ rivalry.

“We are not competition for Dunkin’ and Dunkin’ is not competition for us,” Webb said. “My understanding is that Dunkin’ is a quick grab and go … where everything here is custom made.”
