A single-vehicle crash near Gulf Road and Smith Neck Road killed an 18-year-old man from New Bedford and seriously injured a Dartmouth woman on Jan. 5, at approximately 10:35 p.m., according to Dartmouth Police.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man and woman laying unresponsive in the road near a damaged 2022 Honda Accord.

Both people were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where the man, subsequently identified as Jacob Pothier, 18, of New Bedford was pronounced dead.

Kathleen Martins, 44, of Dartmouth, suffered life-threatening injuries, and remains at the hospital.

The crash currently remains under investigation.
