Police seek public assistance in fatal Padanaram crash

Dartmouth Police are seeking information about a single-vehicle crash near Gulf Road and Smith Neck Road that killed an 18-year-old man from New Bedford and seriously injured a Dartmouth woman on Jan. 5, at approximately 10:35 p.m.
Police are asking that anyone that may have witnessed a white 2022 Honda Accord driving in or near the town landing on the west side of the Padanaram bridge prior to the crash, to contact Officer Brian Parent or Detective Kyle Costa. Both people involved in the crash were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where the man, subsequently identified as Jacob Pothier, 18, of New Bedford, was pronounced dead.
Kathleen Martins, 44, of Dartmouth, suffered life-threatening injuries, and remains at the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
