Chalk it up to fun

Artists will transform Onset sidewalks into colorful works of art during the 12th Annual Onset Chalk-Full-O Fun Street Painting Festival on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lillian Gregerman Bandshell in Onset.

Artists can register for a sidewalk square for $5, which includes a box of 36 soft pastel chalks to create their masterpiece.

The festival also will feature a craft fair. Crafters can reserve a space for $60, and this year organizers are expanding the number of vendor spaces to accommodate the event's growing popularity. Shoppers can browse a variety of handmade items throughout the day.

Local nonprofit community organizations are invited to participate at no cost by hosting informational booths. Space is limited, and organizations that register but do not attend without advance notice may lose eligibility to participate the following year.
