Don’t be lazy – run a claw-some road race on Sept. 12
Runners and walkers will line the streets for the Lazy Lobster 5-Miler Road Race on Saturday, Sept. 12. The race will start at 8:00 a.m. at the former John W. Decas Elementary School at 760 Main St. Following the race, there will be a festival in the Decas School parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The race route will take racers west on Main St., down Fearing Hill Rd., north on County Rd., then south along Papermill Rd. before returning to Decas. Organizers will update the website with information about the start line and a water station before the race.
The race is wheelchair accessible. Participants with physical disabilities can request complimentary running chairs for the race.
The festival following the race will be free for all to attend. There will be a beer garden, live music, a kids zone, vendors and food trucks in the parking lot of the school.
Money raised from the event will be donated to the nonprofit organization The Gifted Crate.
Registration for the race is open on the event’s website. Racers can pick up their packets on Friday, Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the TownePlace Suites in Wareham Crossing at 50 Rosebrook Pl., or on race day before 7:30 a.m.
